FRI APRIL 25 - Conference: A New Era of U.S. Innovation in Crypto
This was a fantastic event sponsored by Cornell Tech and Cornell Blockchain.
I recorded audio for every session I attended and am using NotebookLM and Rodrigo (my ChatGPT assistant) to push out some content.

Blockchain Saving the World
A major take-away from the Cornell Blockchain conference, as well as the Brown-Rudnick Blockchain conference in April, was that stablecoins are heating up.
BABS is quite intrigued. Kala is publishing 2 books this month on Amazon about stablecoins - one for crypto-skeptics (I see you) and one for women.
Here is a stablecoin-for-good project to check out. It’s called Glo Coin, The antipoverty stablecoin. It’s a charity model, developed by the Glo Foundation. Lifting people out of extreme poverty by donating to GiveDirectly
KUDOS to the Glo Coin team.
A big takeaway for BABS and Kala, though, is that a stablecoin focusing on remittances could be a powerful backdoor for women’s global economic influence. We are looking into this more closely this month.

Stablecoins in the Spotlight
As mentioned, stablecoins are having a moment. Mostly because of pending legislation.
To summarize the basics:
Both bills seek to integrate stablecoins into the U.S. financial system securely. The STABLE Act prioritizes stringent federal control to mitigate risks, potentially limiting the entry of new players.
In contrast, the GENIUS Act offers a more flexible approach, aiming to foster innovation while maintaining essential safeguards. Dual state and federal oversight and allows for a broader pool of possible entrants from the state and federal level.
Industry watchers expect action on stablecoins legislation by summer 2025. This shift shows that policymakers now recognize stablecoins are here to stay and that they will play a major role in the future of money.
